Effective date: 1 January 2023

The Decree on childcare benefit will change on 1 January 2023.

What changes?

Do you have young children? The amount of childcare benefit will no longer depend on the number of hours worked.

The amount of childcare benefit you receive is currently (among others) dependent on the hours spend on work or business by the parent who works the least number of hours. For many parents this complicates the application. Especially for parents working irregular hours, such as for instance entrepreneurs, it is hard to estimate the number of hours they work per month. This can lead to significant amounts they need to repay. It can also influence labour participation. The government now removes this barrier, so it will be easier for parents with young children to work.

For whom?

  • entrepreneurs with young children

When?

The Decree on childcare benefit will enter into effect on 1 January 2023.
