Do you work as a mediator? An official register will be introduced for mediators. This register will make it easier for people dealing with a divorce or work/business dispute to choose a mediator. It will also guarantee mediator quality. There are some demands to be met before someone can be admitted to the register. These focus on:
- psychological, communication and legal skills
- professional liability insurance
- having a certificate of conduct (VOG)
This way, people who need the services of a mediator will be ensured of the quality of the help they receive. This will also improve their chances of finding a long-term solution for their problems.
- entrepreneurs involved in a conflict
It is not yet known when this change in law will come into force.
Please note: The effective date of this measure is not yet final. Entry into force is subject to its passing through the upper and lower houses of parliament or proclamation of the Order in Council (Algemene Maatregel van Bestuur, AMvB) or ministerial decree and publication in the Staatsblad or Staatscourant (Government Gazette, in Dutch).
