What changes?

Do you sell fireworks? The government wants to ban the sale of firecrackers and rockets to private citizens. The following types of fireworks will be banned:

  • singleshots
  • category F3 fireworks. You can find the category on the label
  • firecrackers (including strings of firecrackers)
  • rockets

Importers and distributors will no longer be allowed to sell these fireworks to consumers. Likewise, consumers are not allowed to buy or light these types of fireworks.

For whom?

  • importers of fireworks
  • distributors of fireworks

When?

The change in the law on consumer and theatrical fireworks (Regeling aanwijzing consumenten- en theatervuurwerk, Ract) is expected to come into force on 1 December 2020.

Please note: The effective date of this measure is not yet final. Entry into force is subject to its passing through the upper and lower houses of parliament or proclamation of the Order in Council (Algemene Maatregel van Bestuur, AMvB) or ministerial decree and publication in the Staatsblad or the Staatscourant (in Dutch)External link.
