This information is provided by

Netherlands Enterprise Agency, RVO

Effective date: 1 April 2021

What changes?

Do you work with heat pumps or air conditioners? Heat pumps and air conditioning units that are placed outside of a home cannot make a noise that can be heard at louder than 40dB at the neighbours' houses. This only applies to newly placed machinery (newly built homes and renovations).

For whom?

  • Contractors
  • Building companies
  • Installers

When?

The noise limits were to be subject to the law on Almost Energy Neutral Buildings (BENG, in Dutch) coming into force on 1 January 2021. This measure has come into force on 1 April 2021.
