Threshold limits for all entrances of new-built homes

What changes?

Do you work in the construction sector? New limits have been introduced for thresholds, so that all houses are accessible for people living with limited mobility. The maximum height for thresholds is 2 cm, this applies to all entrances of newly built homes. At the moment, the maximum only applies to one entrance.

Publicly accessible buildings

At the moment, there is a threshold limit of 2 cm for the main entrance of publicly accessible buildings. This will also apply to newly built smaller buildings, such as shops and restaurants.

When?

It is not yet known when this change in law will come into force.

Please note: The effective date of this measure is not yet final. Entry into force is subject to its passing through the upper and lower houses of parliament or proclamation of the Order in Council (Algemene Maatregel van Bestuur, AMvB) or ministerial decree and publication in the Staatsblad or Staatscourant (in Dutch).
