Do you own or operate a zoo? And is your zoo facing financial difficulties as a result of the corona crisis? You may be eligible for a subsidy to help pay for your fixed costs (in Dutch). This aplies to costs you incurred during the period 18 March through 30 September 2020.

Second application period

Because zoos have had to close more than once, the government had decided to extend subsidy scheme for zoos. It is not yet known when the 2nd application period will open.

Who can apply?

All licenced zoos can apply for this support. The subsidy is meant to help pay for fixed costs such as feed, care, and housing. You can read how the subsidy is calculated and for which costs you can be reimbursed on the website of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (in Dutch).

You will have to draft a transition plan (in Dutch) in which you describe your plans and ideas for the future of your zoo. In this plan you should pay attention to animal welfare, education, and preservation.

How to apply?

You can no longer apply for the Temporary measure subsidy for zoos COVID-19.
