Energy and Climate Research and Development subsidies
Are you working on projects and research in the field of energy and climate? For example, an innovative idea for reducing CO2 emissions or for smarter energy consumption? Then you may be eligible for a subsidy from the Energy and Climate Research & Development (Energie en Klimaat Onderzoek en Ontwikkeling, EKOO) schemes. You can also apply in collaboration with other entrepreneurs.
You can get subsidies for innovations in the following areas (all links lead to information in Dutch):
Conditions for the EKOO subsidies
To be eligible for an EKOO subsidy, your innovation must meet the conditions, among others:
- The project fits within one of the specified areas.
- The innovation will be launched on the market by 2035 at the latest.
- You substantiate the chances of success of your innovation in your project plan. You justify this with market knowledge, sources, and reasoning.
- You must start the project within 6 months after you receive the letter that says your application is approved.
- The project may last for a maximum of 4 years.
- The participating companies must not be in financial difficulty.

This subsidy is part of the schemes for the Top Sector Energy Innovation (in Dutch). Therefore your project must be innovative and you must comply with the general criteria for energy innovation subsidies of the Top Sector Energy scheme (in Dutch).
How to apply?
The opening and closing dates vary depending on the different areas. You can apply for each area to RVO.
