What changes?

Does your company have a social or societal goal? Regulations and playing field for businesses with a social goal are set to be improved. Introducing a new legal form for such companies is currently being explored.

Social enterprises play a part in in tackling societal issues in areas such as climate and energy, (health)care, education and safety both nationally as well as abroad. Social enterprises now can choose the same legal forms as any other business. The Dutch government is exploring the possibilities of introducing new legal forms, for example a bv-m (private limited company-social).

The existing Social Entrepreneurship Code may become legislation.

It is not yet known when this measure may come into force.

Please note: The effective date of this measure is not yet final. Entry into force is subject to its passing through the upper and lower houses of parliament or proclamation of the Order in Council (Algemene Maatregel van Bestuur, AMvB) or ministerial decree and publication in the Staatsblad or Staatscourant (in Dutch).
