Parking garage underneath new apartment building must have sprinkler system

What changes?

Do you work in construction? Parking garages underneath newly built multi-storey buildings where people stay overnight/sleep, such as apartment buildings, must be fitted with a sprinkler installation.

For whom?

• construction companies
• project developers
• suppliers of sprinkler systems

When?

It is not yet known when this change in the Decree on construction works in the living environment (Besluit bouwwerken leefomgeving, Bbl) will enter into force.

Please note: The effective date of this measure is not yet final. Entry into force is subject to its passing through the upper and lower houses of parliament or proclamation of the Order in Council (Algemene Maatregel van Bestuur, AMvB) or ministerial decree and publication in the Staatsblad or Staatscourant (Government Gazette, in Dutch).
