At the start of the second quarter of 2026, there were 81,610 hospitality businesses in the Netherlands. This was 440 fewer than in the previous quarter.

In the first quarter of 2026, hospitality businesses generated 2.2% higher revenue than a year earlier. Tunover at hotels and campsites increased by 1.9%, while food and beverage establishments recorded a 2.3% increase.

In the first quarter of 2026, there were 29,000 job vacancies in the hospitality sector. This was 29% more than in the previous quarter. More than 28% of hospitality businesses reported a staff shortage.

In the second quarter of 2026, collective labour agreement (CAO) wages in the hospitality sector increased by 3.7% compared with the same period a year earlier. In the previous quarter, wage growth was also 3.7%.

At the beginning of the second quarter of 2026, business confidence in the hospitality sector was -30.1. This was lower than in the previous quarter, when confidence was -12. Hospitality entrepreneurs were more pessimistic than the average business owner.
