At the start of the third quarter of 2026, there were 81,840 hospitality businesses in the Netherlands. This was 225 more than in the previous quarter.

In the first quarter of 2026, hospitality businesses generated 2.2% higher revenue than a year earlier. Tunover at hotels and campsites increased by 1.9%, while food and beverage establishments recorded a 2.3% increase.

In the second quarter of 2026, there were 28,100 job vacancies in the hospitality sector. This was 3% less than in the previous quarter. More than 30% of hospitality businesses reported a staff shortage.

In the second quarter of 2026, collective labour agreement (CAO) wages in the hospitality sector increased by 3.7% compared with the same period a year earlier. In the previous quarter, wage growth was also 3.7%.

At the beginning of the second quarter of 2026, business confidence in the hospitality sector was -19.5. This was higher than in the previous quarter, when confidence was -30.1. Hospitality entrepreneurs were more pessimistic than the average business owner.
