Cookies and Web Storage
This website uses cookies and Web Storage. More about the cookie policy of the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce will follow.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your computer when you visit a website. They identify your computer throughout your visit (session).
Three types of cookies
- Essential cookies
Some cookies are essential for storing settings or preferences throughout your visit to a website or until your following visit. Suppose you don't want to receive cookies from a particular website – this website 'remembers' your preference by placing a cookie. Blocking cookies means that you'll be asked the same questions repeatedly each time you visit the same website.
- Website Usage Cookies
Some cookies provide information about which pages you've viewed, in which order and for how long. Statistics can then be generated to help improve website usage for future visitors. A similar type of cookie can be used to conduct online surveys.
- Third-Party Website Cookies
Some website elements place cookies originating from third-party websites. This type of cookie allows useful add-on features to be included, e.g. interactive Google Maps with directions, Facebook 'Like' buttons or options to post something via Twitter. These cookies 'inform' the website you're visiting whether you're logged in with Google, Facebook or Twitter. Business.gov.nl does not use this type of cookie.
Web storage
The Netherlands Chamber of Commerce uses HTML5 Web Storage to store data. This works in almost the same way as cookies but it is safer and can store more information. In web storage there is a difference between session storage and local storage. In session storage your data are removed directly after you have shut down your browser. In local storage you can decide for yourself how long your browser stores data. This depends on your browser settings and how often you delete your browser history.
