Please note: closed

If you own a company in the Netherlands that produces sustainable energy, you can apply for a subsidy for the production of renewable electricity, renewable heat or the combined generation of renewable heat and electricity or green gas. This is part of the Sustainable Energy Production Subsidy SchemeExternal link (Stimulering Duurzame Energieproductie, SDE+). The following energy sources are eligible:

  • biomass
  • water
  • wind (in lakes, on land and dikes)
  • wind at sea
  • solar
  • geothermal energy

Corona: extension for completion of projects

Projects that have received the SDE+ subsidy should be up and running within 1 year. If your project cannot be completed because of the corona crisis, you may apply for an extension. Projects that were supposed to be completed in 2020 can get an extension of 1 year. The extension will only be granted to projects guaranteed to be completed within the extra year. You can apply for this extension at the Netherlands Enterprise AgencyExternal link (RVO, in Dutch). You need to send an email with your SDE project number to sde@rvo.nl,External link explaining why your project cannot be completed in time and clearly stating that your project can be finished within the extended time.

When do you qualify?

Only the cheapest forms of sustainable energy qualify for a subsidy. Different conditions apply to the different forms of sustainable energy production. You have to submit a feasibility study among other things. For geothermal categories you both need an exploration licence and a geothermal study.

How to apply?

You could apply for this subsidy from 17 March 2020, 9:00 until 2 April 2020, 17:00 hours. For more information contact the Netherlands Enterprise Agency.

This spring tender round is the last time the SDE+ subsidy will be awarded in its current form. The SDE+ stimulation subsidy will be expanded to an incentive for sustainable energy transition (SDE++).
