Childcare may also be offered in English, French, or German

What changes?

Do you work in childcare? Daycare may be offered multilingually. Multilingual daycare may be offered in English, French, or German, next to Dutch (and/or Frisian). You may do so for a maximum of 50% of the time per day. This applies to daycare such as nurseries, as well as out-of-school care.

  • entrepreneurs active in the childcare sector

When?

It is expected this change in the Childcare Provisions Act Regulations (Regeling Wet Kinderopvang) will enter into effect on 1 January 2024.

You can give your opinion on this bill (in Dutch) until 31 January 2023.

Please note: The effective date of this measure is not yet final. Entry into force is subject to its passing through the upper and lower houses of parliament or proclamation of the Order in Council (Algemene Maatregel van Bestuur, AMvB) or ministerial decree and publication in the Staatsblad or Staatscourant (Government Gazette, in Dutch).
