Deregister from the Chamber of Commerce (KVK)

This information is provided by

Netherlands Chamber of Commerce, KVK

To deregister your company or organisation from the Chamber of Commerce (KVK) you must first dissolve it. This is not necessary for a sole proprietorship, which you can deregister immediately.

Deregistering your sole proprietorship

To deregister your sole proprietorship at KVK, follow these steps:
  • look up the company you want to deregister in the Commercial Register on the page for deregistration (in Dutch),
  • and follow the steps of the online form.
Enter the date on which you want to end your business. This can also be a date in the past if you have already ended your business. Do not forget your name and phone number. You send your data digitally with DigiD. You transfer 1 euro cent so that the KVK can check your personal data.

Deregistering your sole proprietorship by post

You can also deregister your company by post. Use form 14: Business/branch details. Print the form, sign it, and send it to your regional KVK office. Also include a copy of a valid ID in the envelope. For example, a copy of your passport, ID card, driver's license, or Dutch identity card for aliens. The deregistration is free of charge.

Deregister your legal personality

In order to deregister a legal personality, you must first dissolve it (in Dutch). The board, the members, or the shareholders decide to dissolve during a meeting. If there is no debt or capital, the legal personality and the company can be immediately dissolved and thus deregistered. You notify KVK of the dissolution using form 17a: dissolution of a company, legal entity, or partnership. Print the form, sign it, and send it to your regional KVK office with a copy of a valid proof of ID. For example, your passport, ID card, driver's license, or Dutch identity card for aliens. If there is debt or capital, you must indicate this on the dissolution form. After your debts have been paid or your assets have been divided, you can deregister the legal personality and the company with form 17b: Termination of a legal entity. This can be on the date of the decision or at a future time. The deregistration is free of charge.

Deregister your general, limited, or professional partnership

To be able to deregister a general partnership (vof), a limited partnership (cv), or professional partnership (maatschap), you must dissolve it. You can do this at KVK using form 17a: dissolution of a company, legal entity, or partnership. Your vof, cv, or professional partnership is dissolved by completing this form and is deregistered immediately. Indicate on the form the date on which you want to end the company. You and all other partners or ‘maten’ must co-sign. The date of termination can be a date in the past or in the future. Print the form, sign it, and send it to your regional KVK office with a copy of a valid proof of ID. For example, your passport, ID card, driver's license, or Dutch identity card for aliens. The deregistration is free of charge.
