Certification needed for work on gas appliances

What changes?

Does your company (or do you) work with boilers or gas-driven hot water tanks? Or do you handle plumbing for air supply or fume removal? You will need to be certified to install or maintain gas appliances or pipes. This legal obligation is introduced to prevent accidents with carbon monoxide.

For whom?

  • Installation agencies
  • (Self-employed) installation technicians

When?

This is a change in the existing Housing Act (Woningwet, in Dutch) and is expected to come into effect on 1 January 2022.

Please note: The effective date of this measure is not yet final. Entry into force is subject to its passing thorugh the upper and lower houses of parliament or proclamation of the Order in Council (Algemene Maatregel van Bestuur, AMvB) or ministerial decree and publication in the Staatsblad or the Staatscourant (in Dutch).
