What has changed?
Every dog in the Netherlands should have a European pet passport. The passport should state for instance:
- where the dog is from
- who is the breeder
- which vaccinations it has had
From 1 November 2021 on, only vets can issue dog passports. The passport is linked to the dog’s registration. Vets and authorised microchipping professionals will be responsible for the correct birth registration of dogs instead of breeders.
- specialist pet shops
- dog breeders
- dog traders
- microchipping professionals
This change in law has come into force on 1 July 2021.
