Horse keepers must register location and animal

What changes?

Do you keep a horse, pony, donkey, or zebra in your stable or pasture? You must register the place you keep the animal. You must also register the animal.

Do you keep your horse or equine in the same place for over 30 days? You must register this location with the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO). You must also register the animals that stay in this location for more than 30 days.

If you keep equidae for a hobby, you must also register the equines you keep on your location with the RVO.

Unique Company Number (Uniek Bedrijfsnummer, UBN)

A UBN is the unique number for each location where cattle, pigs, sheep or goats are kept. If you keep equidae in the same location for over 30 days, this location should also have a UBN. You can register your location and apply for a UBN with RVO (in Dutch). It is expected registration will be possible from 12 April 2021.

When?

The European Animal Health Regulation will come into force on 21 April 2021.
