What changes?

Governments that engage in economic activities that can also be carried out by companies will be faced with stricter rules.

Entrepreneurial governments must provide stronger substantiation for their commercial activities, they must organise participation for entrepreneurs and they must evaluate their decisions every 5 years.

For whom?

  • businesses that offer products or services that may also be offered by governments

When?

It is not yet known when this measure will come into effect.

Please note: The effective date of this measure is not yet final. Entry into force is subject to its passing through the upper and lower houses of parliament or proclamation of the Order in Council (Algemene Maatregel van Bestuur, AMvB) or ministerial decree and publication in the Staatsblad or the Staatscourant (in Dutch).
