At the start of the third quarter of 2026, there were 69,430 companies in the transport, mail and storage sectors in the Netherlands. That is 225 more than in the previous quarter.

In the second quarter of 2026, companies in the transport, mail and storage sectors reported a 9.5% increase in turnover compared with the same period a year earlier. Turnover in the land transport sector rose by 13.1%. Post and courier companies reported a 9.7% increase in turnover.

In the second quarter of 2026, there were 15,200 job openings in the transport, mail and storage sectors. That is more than in the previous quarter. At that time, there were 13,500 openings. 31% of the businesses in transport, mail and storage reported a staff shortage.

In the second quarter of 2026, collective labour agreement (wages) in the transport, mail and storage sector increased by 4.1% compared with the same period a year earlier. In the previous quarter, wage growth was 3.6%.

At the beginning of the third quarter of 2026, business confidence in the transport, mail and storage sector stood at -4.4. This was higher than in the previous quarter when confidence was -13.5. Entrepreneurs in the transport, mail and storage sector were more positive than the average business owner.
