The environmental plan contains all the rules about what we can see and experience in our municipality: the physical living environment. Consider rules about air, water, soil and nature. Or rules about objects, such as roads and buildings. The rules in the environmental plan apply to everyone and concern what is and is not allowed in a specific location in the municipality.

With the introduction of the Environmental Act, the municipality will receive an ‘environmental plan by operation of law’. The municipality converts this environmental plan, including a temporary part, into a complete environmental plan. The municipality has until 2032 to make an environmental plan. It is a lot of work to include all the rules about the physical environment in the environmental plan and to ensure that they are easily and digital available.

There are various times that you have influence to make changes to the environmental plan. The revision of the environmental plan requires a careful procedure. The size of the change determines its duration. It usually takes at least six months, but often a year or longer.
