Environmental management notification

Do you have a type B business? You must notify the municipality of your business activities. You do this by way of an environmental management notification via the Activities Decree online module Activities Decree online module (Activiteitenbesluit Internet Module, AIM, in Dutch). 

 You must submit the notification at least 4 weeks before starting, changing, or expanding your business.

All-in-one permit for physical aspects (environmental permit)

Do you have a type C business? You must apply for an all-in-one permit for physical aspects.

You must apply for the all-in-one permit for physical aspects at least 4 weeks before starting, changing, or expanding your business.

Environmental management notification

In order to submit an environmental management notification, you will need:

  • a floor plan
  • a layout drawing
  • a sewerage drawing
  • in some cases: an acoustic report and/or a soil survey or other relevant survey

You must submit the environmental management notification online via the AIM (in Dutch).

If you start, change, or expand a business, you must apply for an environmental permit from the Online environment portal:

1.    Go to the online service counter Omgevingsloket online (in Dutch)2.    Log in with DigiD (for individuals) or eHerkenning (for businesses).

A environmental management notification is free of charge.

All-in-one permit for physical aspects (environmental permit)

The costs depend on which permit you apply for. You must pay even if you do not get the permit.

The municipality will need 8 weeks (standard procedure) to assess your application. Sometimes it can take 26 weeks (extended procedure), for example if you want to deviate from the zoning plan. The municipality can extend the period once by 6 weeks.

Do you want to object? In this case, the following rules apply.

  • For a standard all-in-one permit for physical aspects (8 weeks), you can file an objection within 6 weeks of the decision being published. How to do this is stated in the published decisions.
  • Does it concern an extended all-in-one permit for physical aspects (26 weeks)? Then it is issued a a draft decision. You can send your letter to: Burgemeester en Wethouders van Amsterdam, afdeling Vergunningen Postbus 20031000 CA   Amsterdam
  • You can submit your opinion within 6 weeks. After that, a final decision will be made.. You can appeal to the district court within 6 weeks.
