Municipality Hoorn: Applying for an event licence
If you organize an event, you must apply for an event permit. If you are organizing a small event, such as a street party or neighborhood barbecue, making a report is sufficient. Are you organizing a private party? Then you do not need to report or apply for a permit. It is wise to inform local residents.
evenementenvergunningReporting your event is sufficient if you meet these conditions:
- The event lasts a maximum of 1 day.
- The event is a barbecue, street party or an outdoor event similar to it (for example, a small sporting event or a flea market in one street).
- There are no more than 150 visitors.
- The event takes place on
- Monday to Thursday between 08:00 and 23:00
- Friday and Saturday between 08:00 and 24:00
- Sunday between 13:00 and 23:00
- There is no music before 08:00 and after 24:00 and on Sundays also not before 13:00.
- The music is not loud and is background music. The noise level does not exceed 70 decibels, measured at the nearest facade.
- You do not sell alcoholic beverages.
- The street on which the event takes place has no main function for through traffic and no public transport runs through it.
- If you want to close the street to traffic: a strip of at least 3.5 meters must remain free for emergency services and for neighbors to reach their homes.
- If you place a closed object (for example a tent with walls and one entrance), it may have a maximum surface area of 10m2. Open objects may not be larger than 25m2.
- There is a contact person present at the event. This ensures that the event runs smoothly and in an orderly manner.
- During the event, the contact person can be reached by telephone.
You can report or request the event online.
- A notification of an event (category I) is free.
- A permit application for a category II event costs € 268,10 per week.
- A permit application for a category III event costs € 536,30 per week.
After your application you will be told by the municipality whether your event falls into category II or III.
You will be notified within 8 to 10 weeks. The municipality may extend this notice period once.
