Buildings must meet fire safety regulations.

In some cases, you must notify the municipality that you are going to use the building; this is called a notification of fire safety-compliant use (gebruiksmelding brandveilig gebruik) .

You can find out if you need to make a notification by running the permit check on the online service counter Omgevingsloket (in Dutch).

Applying or submitting a notification

  1. Go to the online service counter Omgevingsloket (in Dutch).
  2. Run a permit check to see if you must submit a notification.
  3. If you have to submit a notification, you can do so at once via the online service counter Omgevingsloket. Log in with DigiD (for individuals) or eHerkenning (for businesses).

The cost depends on which all-in-one permit for physical aspects you apply for. You must pay even if your application is rejected.  More information and Fee can be found here (in Dutch).

The municipality needs 8 weeks (standard procedure) to assess your application. In some cases it can take 26 weeks (extended procedure), for example if you want to deviate from the zoning plan. The municipality may extend the period once by 6 weeks.
