Municipality Westerwolde: Fire safety measures for a building
A building must be fire safe.
Sometime buildings require notification that you are going to use the building (user notification fire-safe use).
For certain buildings, it is necessary to apply for an environmental permit for fire-safe use.
You can check using the Omgevingsloket online to see whether it is necessary to make a notification or apply for a permit.
Apply or make a notification:
- Do the permit check. Find out whether you need a permit or a notification.
- Should you need a permit it is possible to apply directly on-line or in writing at the on-line Service Counter all-in-one permit for physical aspects (Omgevingsloket Online) Log on with DigiD (for yourself), log on with eHerkenning if you are a company.
- If it is necessary to make a notification, you can do so immediately in the Service Counter. Log on with DigiD (for yourself), log on with eHerkenning if you are a company.

The municipality requires 26 weeks to assess your application (extended procedure). The municipality may extend the deadline once by 6 weeks. You must file the notification at least 4 weeks before you start using the building.

Submitting an opinion
If it is a comprehensive all-in-one permit for physical aspects (26 weeks), it is a draft planning decision. You can submit an opinion within 6 weeks. After that, a final decision follows. You have six weeks to appeal to the court. Please send your letter to:

Good to know
You may only start after you have received the permit. If you start earlier, you may need to undo the work at your own expense.
