Municipality Alphen-Chaam: Property tax (OZB)
Please note: you must pay property tax (OZB) if you are the owner or user of a commercial building. It makes no difference if you live in the Netherlands or not.
The amount of OZB you must pay depends on:
- the value of the commercial building; and
- the OZB rates applicable in your municipality.
The municipality determines the value of your business premises each year on 1 January. This is the property valuation (waardering onroerende zaken – WOZ). The municipality determines the OZB on the basis of the previous year’s WOZ.
The OZB rates for the municipality of Alpen Chaam can be found on the website.
Payment
Each year, you receive a OZB tax assessment. This tax assessment states the amount you have to pay. You have to pay this amount within 6 weeks. Are you unable to pay the amount at once? Then you can:
- pay in terms: you request a direct debit via the municipality. The municipality will debit the amount from your bank account in parts (every month).
Remission
Are you unable to pay the OZB tax assessment? Then you can ask the municipality not to charge you (in part). This is called remission. Contact the municipality of Alphen Chaam for more information.
Moving
Are you planning to move later in the year? When selling a commercial property, the notary usually settles the OZB with the new owner.
Do you disagree with the WOZ of your commercial property? Or with the OZB? Then you can file your objection online. You need DigiD to do so.
You can also submit a written objection. More information can be found on the municipality’s website.
