When do you need to make an environmental report?
You must make an environmental report (PRTR report) if your activities are listed in Annex I of the European PRTR regulation. This applies among others to businesses in the following sectors:
- energy
- production and processing of metals
- mineral industry
- chemical industry
- waste and wastewater management
- manufacturing and processing of paper and wood
- intensive livestock farming and aquaculture
- food and beverage industry of animal and vegetable products
You have to keep track of your waste, energy, and water use, and the substances released in the process (emissions) into air, water, and soil in a measurement and recording system (in Dutch).
Do the measurement data show that the emissions of 1 or more substances on the list of substances exceed the threshold value? Then you must prepare and submit an environmental report (in Dutch).
Preparing and submitting the environmental report
In your in environmental report you state, among other things, the waste produced, energy and water consumed, and emissions released into the air, water, and soil. You can use the online tool Digital environmental annual report (e-MJV, elektronisch milieujaarverslag, available in Dutch only) to draft and submit your report to the authority that must assess your environmental report. This is the authority from whom you received the environmental permit.
Online application procedure via Message Box
In the province of Noord-Brabant you can submit your environmental report (PRTR report) digitally via Message Box. Message Box is a secure email system that enables you as an entrepreneur to exchange digital messages with Dutch government agencies.
