You must apply to the municipality for an alcoholwetvergunning (alcohol licence).

  • You must have an SVH Declaration of Social Hygiene (in Dutch).
  • Your manager (who must be at least 21 years old) must also have a Daclaration of Social Hygiene.
  • You and your manager must meet the probity rules (this will be checked via the Bibob procedure).
  • You and your manager must be of good character. For example, you must not have a criminal record. This will be verified by a background check.
  • You must not be under guardianship or have been removed from parental authority or custody.
  • Your catering business must fit the municipality’s zoning plan.

You have the following options to apply for an alcohol licence:

Option 1: for commercial enterprises (bars, restaurants, hotels, liqour stores, etc.). Apply via: https://www.reuseldemierden.nl/alcoholvergunning-voor-commerciele-bedrijven

Option 2: for paracommercial organisations (sportclubs, museums, community center, etc.). Apply via: https://www.reuseldemierden.nl/alcoholvergunning-voor-paracommerciele-bedrijven

Make an appointment to apply at the municipality’s service counter.

An application for an alcohol and licence takes 8 weeks. The municipality may extend this period once.
