Municipality Valkenswaard: Selling alcohol (alcohol licence)
If you want to sell or serve alcohol as a business owner, you need an alcohol license. You can get this license if you meet certain requirements. You also need to apply for a new license if there are new managers, changes in the organizational structure, or technical modifications to the premises.
Alcohol LicensingRequirements for obtaining a license:
- All managers must be at least 21 years old.
- All managers must be of good conduct.
- There must always be at least one manager present.
- Each manager must have a Certificate of Knowledge and Insight into Social Hygiene.
- Your hospitality business or liquor store must meet certain requirements regarding area, height, ventilation, and toilet facilities.
Additional requirements for associations and foundations:
- Display house rules in canteens.
- Provide courses for bar volunteers.
- Establish a board regulation (related to social hygiene).
You apply for an alcohol license with the mayor and aldermen of the municipality.
Part of the application for commercial hospitality businesses is a check based on the Public Administration (Probity Screening) Act (Wet Bibob).
The Bibob questionnaire is attached to the alcohol license application form. You can download the form, but you must fill it out in writing and then make an appointment with the APV department to submit the completed form. The municipality may request additional documents, such as employment contracts of the managers.
Foundations and (sports) associations do not need to fill out the Bibob questionnaire. They can directly fill out and submit an electronic application form via the Quick Licensing Desk.
