Omschrijving

You may organise short (sports) events in, on, near or above a provincial waterway, as long as you adhere to some general rules:

  • Your event has no consequences for the safety and flow of shipping traffic.
  • Your event cannot (accidentally) lead to damage to quays, bridges, locks, shores, etc. These rules apply to waterways managed by the provincial authorities. Yet most waterways are managed by the water boards, while some are managed by the government. If you want to organise an event on or near those, you must contact the water board or the government.
Online applications

The conditions include:

  • You plan to organise a short-term event in, on or above a provincial waterway.
  • The provincial authorities manage the waterway.
  • The safety and flow of shipping are not jeopardised. There is no risk of damage to bridges, quays, shores, locks, etc.

The provincial authorities will take a decision on your application within 8 weeks of receipt.

You can object to the decision on your application within 6 weeks. Do you disagree with the decision? In that case, you can appeal through the courts within 6 weeks.
