Compensation for horticulture and floriculture hit by corona crisis

Entrepreneurs in the horticultural sector, both ornamentals (floriculture) and vegetable horticulture subsector, and processing potato growers, that suffer turnover loss due to the corona crisis, can apply for a compensation. For instance because they can no longer export their produce.

Growers of ornamentals and vegetables

Entrepreneurs in the horticulture and floriculture sectors will pay for 30% of these damages themselves (entrepreneurial risk). The government will compensate part of the remaining loss. An amount of €600 million is available for this compensation.

You can apply if you are:

  • a grower of flowerbulbs, arboricultural crops, ornamental plants, bedding plants, pot plants, cut flowers or cut shrubs
  • wholesaler
  • propagator
  • road haulier
  • ornamental plant auction
  • grower or wholesaler in vegetables

Your company has suffered a turnover or gross profit loss of more than 30% during the period 12 March through 11 June 2020 as a result of corona measures.

Growers of processing potatoes

Growers of processing potatoes can apply for compensation (purchase scheme) for the potatoes they have in stock that can no longer be processed to fries. The compensation amounts to 40% of the average market value during the period of September 2019 through February 2020. An amount of €50 million is available for this measure.

You can apply if you:

  • grow ware or processing potatoes
  • you cannot deliver you processing potaties due to the corona measures
  • your company was registered in the Chamber of Commerce Commercial Register (KVK Handelsregister) with this main activity on 12 March 2020
  • you have a physical establishment in the Netherlands and are not facing bankruptcy
  • you have not filed for suspension of payment

To apply for either of these schemes you need eHerkenning level 1 (or higher).
