This information is provided by:Netherlands Enterprise Agency, RVONetherlands Enterprise Agency, RVONederlandse versieEffective date: 1 January 2024

What changes?

Are you a food producer in the Netherlands? You can put a Nutri-Score as a food choice logo on your products.

By using the European food choice Nutri-Score label on your packaging, you show your consumers that they are buying a more healthy product as compared to similar products. The logo has a colour label from 'A' to 'E'. The green 'A' stands for healthy and the red 'E' for less healthy. For example, because of the use of sugars, calories, and salt.

You are not obliged to use the label. Do you want to use the Nutri-Score label? Then you must use the label on all of your products.

For whom?

  • food producers in the Netherlands

When?

Producers and supermarkets are allowed to officially use the new Nutri-score label, based on the revised algorithm, from 1 January 2024.

Please note: The effective date of this measure is not yet final. Entry into force is subject to its passing through the upper and lower houses of parliament or proclamation of the Order in Council (Algemene Maatregel van Bestuur, AMvB) or ministerial decree and publication in the Staatsblad or Staatscourant (Government Gazette, in Dutch).
