Reduced excise duty on petrol, diesel, and LPG extended until 1 January 2027
What changes?
The lower excise duty on petrol, diesel, and LPG will be extended by one year to 1 January 2027. And the excise duty on fuel will not be corrected for inflation in 2026. This means excise duties will remain the same as in 2025:
- €0.79 per litre petrol
- €0.52 per litre diesel
- €0.19 per litre LPG
By extending the excise duty rebate, the government wants to keep driving affordable for everyone.
For whom?
- Entrepreneurs who have fuel costs for their business travel.
When?
The change in law is expected to enter into effect on 1 January 2026.
Please note: The effective date of this measure is not yet final. Entry into force is subject to its passing through the Lower and Upper Houses (Tweede en Eerste Kamer) of parliament. After publication in the Staatsblad or Staatscourant (Government Gazette, in Dutch) the law can take effect.
