Reduced excise duty on petrol, diesel, and LPG extended until 1 January 2027

What has changed?

To keep prices affordable, the lower excise duty on petrol, diesel, and LPG has been extended by one year to 1 January 2027. However, the discount is lowser as a result of a change made by the House of Representatives (Tweede Kamer). This means excise duties are:

  • €0.84 per litre petrol
  • €0.55 per litre diesel
  • €0.20 per litre LPG

By extending the excise duty reduction, the government wants to keep driving affordable for everyone.

For whom?

  • Entrepreneurs who have fuel costs for their business travel.

When?

The change in law has taken effect on 1 January 2026.
