If you want to have a one-off or permanent stand on the market, you need a permit. The municipality will check whether space is available and whether you are eligible for the permit. The municipality may put you on a waiting list.

You can request a one-time stand or permanent allocation for the weekly market in Meerssen. The weekly market is every Thursday from 09:00 to 15:00 on the Markt in Meerssen.

You can also request a one-time stand or permanent allocation for the mini-markets. There are mini markets in:

  • Bunde, Sint Agnesplein (vrijdag van 09.00 tot 16.00 uur)
  • Geulle, Marktplein (woensdag van 13.00 tot 15.00 uur)
  • Ulestraten, Dorpsplein (woensdag van 15.30 tot 18.00 uur)
Apply for a market place
  • valid identity document
  • if you are not a Dutch citizen: a valid Dutch residence permit
  • if you live outside the Netherlands: a copy of a document showing that you have a permanent place of residence
  • an extract of your listing in the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce’s business register (KVK Handelsregister) entry from the Chamber of Commerce (no more than 1 month old) and an extract from the Personal Records Database (Basisregistratie Personen, BRP)
  • a recent colour passport photo
  • a certificate of conduct (Verklaring Omtrent Gedrag, VOG) no more than 3 months old

How to apply for a permit for a market place:

  • You contact the municipality.
  • You pass on, among other things:
    • a recent proof of registration with the Chamber of Commerce (Trade Register) 
    • your valid ID
    • whether you want a one-time or permanent pitch
    • what you are going to sell

You pay a fee for this service. For more information, contact the municipality.

You will get a response to your application within 6 weeks.

You can object to the decision on your application. Do this within 6 weeks. Do you subsequently disagree with the decision on the notice of objection? Then file an appeal with the court.
