Do you want to sell goods or food from a stand or van on a (public) road? Then you must apply for a market trader’s licence (standplaatsvergunning).

To obtain a market trader’s licence, you must meet the following conditions:

  • you are registered with the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce (KVK)
  • you meet your municipality’s general conditions for renting a pitch [municipality’s web page]
  • your pitch does not cause public order problems
  • you yourself must sell goods at the pitch.

An application for a market trader’s licence costs: € € 147, 25.

You must pay this fee even if your application is rejected.

You will also have to pay precario tax for the municipal land you use.

You will receive a response to your application within 8 weeks.
