An event is any entertainment event open to the public. You often then need an event licence (evenementenvergunning). Is it a small-scale event? Then check whether a notification will suffice. You can find the rules on the municipality’s website.

The municipality’s website provides information on how and for which events you need to apply for an event licence.

Notifying the event

You apply for an event permit using the event permit application form. Be sure to include all requested attachments. Submit the form on time (at least 16 weeks before the start of the event).

You pay fees for applying for an event licence. How much these fees are depends on the type of event.

Submit your permit application well in advance. Preferably 14 weeks in advance. For some large events, the municipality needs a lot of time to coordinate with the police, fire department and possibly other organizations.
