If you want to organize an event, you must report it. Sometimes you need to apply for a permit. You can check this online with the permit check (Dutch).
More informationMajor events with more than 5,000 visitors must be reported 12 weeks in advance . Smaller events must be reported 8 to 14 weeks in advance.
You do not need a permit if your event meets the following conditions:
- There are less than 100 visitors at the busiest time.
- The event is outdoors and lasts no more than 1 day.
- The event is between 09:00 and 23:00.
- The event is not on public roads.
- Traffic or ships are not affected by the event.
- The noise level is a maximum of 75 dB(C) on the facades of homes in the immediate vicinity of the event.
- You place a maximum of 2 small objects with a surface area of less than 10 m2 per object. For example, a bouncy castle or barbecue.
- You do not sell items, food or alcohol.
- You do not use animals at your event.
- You are not advertising to find visitors/audiences. And you don’t sell tickets.
- The event is not on a market place or a market day.
You do need a permit in the following situations:
- It’s a big party. For example a festival, commemoration, show or flea market.
- More than 250 visitors can come.
- The event can be in several places at the same time.
- The event is on or next to the public road.
- You must close the street for the event.
- Emergency services such as police and ambulances can be affected by the event. For example, by closing a street.
- You expect noise pollution.
- On Sunday to Thursday there is music after 10 pm. And on Friday and Saturday after 11 p.m.
- You place large objects, such as tents, inflatables, bars, toilets.

How much you have to pay depends on the type of event you are organizing. The exact costs can be found in the fee regulation.
You will be notified within 8 to 12 weeks. The municipality may extend this notice period once.
