If you wish to organise an event, you must notify the municipality and, in some cases, apply for a permit. You can check this online using the permit check (vergunningcheck).

Small event notification

For a small event, such as a street or neighborhood party, you do not need a permit (permission), but you can suffice with a notification.

The conditions are

  • there are no more than 300 people present
  • the event (including set-up and dismantling) is held between 9.00 and 24.00 and lasts a maximum of 1 day
  • the event must not take place on the carriageway or otherwise form an obstacle to traffic unless permission has been given
  • A maximum of 5 objects may be placed, including
    • 1 tent with an area of ​​less than 50 m² per object
    • other objects with a maximum surface area of ​​15 m²
    • the total of objects may not exceed 75 m²
  • there is an identifiable organizer
  • on Sunday to Thursday no music can be heard after 22:00
  • the noise level is a maximum of 70 dB(A) and 85 dB(C)
  • the event takes place in 1 place and not on the water no advertising is used to attract interested persons, other than those for whom it is intended

Notification-free event

In a number of cases, an event is exempt from permit (permission) or notification. In addition to the conditions for a report, the following 2 additional conditions are also met.

  • there are no more than a maximum of 100 people
  • the event takes place in the open air on private property

Event permit

Does the event not meet the conditions for a report? Then in most cases you need an event permit.

You pay a fee for this service. For more information, contact the municipality.

You will be notified within 8 weeks. The municipality may extend this period once.

You can object to the decision on your application. Do this within 6 weeks. Do you subsequently disagree with the decision on the notice of objection? Then file an appeal with the court.
