If you wish to organise an event, you must notify the municipality and, in some cases, apply for a permit. You can check this online using the permit check (vergunningcheck).

Apply for event licence

Large events with more than 2 000 visitors must be notified 16 weeks in advance. Smaller events must be notified 8 to 14 weeks in advance.

Organising a small event

Are you organising an event for fewer than 250 visitors and do you meet the conditions for a small event? Then you can report the event via a notification form

  • the number of attendees does not exceed 250 people;
  • the event takes place between 07:00 and 24:00;
  • only background music is played;
  • the event does not take place on the roadway, (moped) cycle path or parking lot or otherwise forms an obstacle to traffic and emergency services;
  • only small objects are placed with a surface area of ​​less than 20 m2 per object;
  • the contact person has reported this to the mayor no later than 4 weeks prior to the event via the form; 
  • you inform local residents at least 1 week in advance;
  • the organizer is present.

When a permit is required:

  • the event is a large gathering, such as a festival, celebration, show or jumble sale.
  • it may be attended by more than 250 people.
  • the event may take place in several places at the same time.
  • the event is on or next to a public road.
  • the event makes it necessary to close a road.
  • the event may disrupt the emergency services, such as the police or ambulances, for example due to a road closure.
  • you expect noise nuisance.
  • there will be music after 22.00 on a Sunday to Thursday, or after 23.00 on a Friday or Saturday.
  • you are installing large objects such as tents, bouncy castles, bars or toilets.

Contact the municipality to notify your event via notification form

You pay a fee for this service. For more information, contact the municipality.

You will be notified within 8 to 10 weeks. The municipality may extend this notice period once.
