If you wish to organise an event, you must always notify the municipality and, in some cases, apply for a permit.

If you are late with your application, there is a good chance that the municipality will no longer process it. How much time in advance is still on time depends on the type of event.

Notifiable event: 4 weeks before the date of the event.Stressful event (small and medium): 8 weeks before the date of the event.Large-scale event: 5 months before the date of the event

You do not need a permit in the following situations:

  • the event takes place between 7:00 and 23:00;
  • the event does not take place on the roadway, (moped) cycle path or otherwise obstructs traffic and the emergency services;
  • only small objects are placed with a maximum surface area of 20 m² per object; d. there is an organiser; and
  • there are no sound devices in operation for the purpose of the event
  • the organiser has notified the mayor at least four weeks prior to the event

When a permit is required:

  • If the event is open to the public.
  • If it is a private event that is held at a location that is normally open to the public (e.g. public space or public road).
  • If the event is held in a place that is not normally used for events (e.g. in a meadow)
  • If you serve/sell alcohol while the event is not being held in a catering establishment.
  • If there is live music or if you play music with a sound system, other than for normal and domestic use.
  • If it is necessary to install sanitary facilities.
  • If the municipality has to take traffic measures for the event
