If you wish to organise an event, you must notify the municipality and, in some cases, apply for a permit.

For many small events, you do not need a permit. In such cases, you can provide notification of the event free of charge.

Apply for a permit

You must have a permit if one or more of the following situations apply:

  • More than 1000 people are present.
  • The event starts before 07:00 and/or ends after 24:00.
  • There is music (no background music).
  • The objects such as a stage, stall or snack cart are larger than 10 m2. Or there is a tent that is larger than 50 m2.
  • The roads are closed to traffic or emergency services.

Apply for the permit at least 8 weeks before the event takes place. For large events such as gondola rides, flower parades and large-scale music festivals, it is wise to apply for a permit at least 12 weeks before the start of the event.

Provide notification of the event

If you do not need a permit, you must at least provide notification of the event. You do this at least 21 days before the event takes place.

If you organize a small event, you must inform the people living in the immediate vicinity.

You will not be given permission for an event if the event poses a threat to public order, public safety, public health or the environment.

You must submit several attachments with your application. Do you need help with your application? Please contact us.

You pay a fee for this service. For more information, visit the website of the municipality Steenwijkerland.
