  • For a sports competition, event or flea market
  • apply for the permit at least 12 weeks before the event
  • apply in the municipality where the event takes place
  • use your DigiD

In general, you must submit a permit application at least 12 weeks before you use the permit. It is better to submit your application much earlier. For some large events, the municipality needs a lot of time to coordinate with police, fire department and possibly other organizations. Please keep that in mind.

If the municipality’s decision on your application is negative, you can file an appeal.

The municipality determines whether you get the permit. The municipality may also prohibit a large or small event.

An event may also require you to abide by certain rules, such as:

  • maximum number of people
  • fixed start and end times
  • no music before or after a certain time
  • no activities on the road or disrupting traffic
  • no placing large objects
