If you wish to organise an event, you must notify the municipality and, in some cases, apply for a permit.
For many small events, you do not need a permit. In such cases, you can provide notification of the event free of charge.
For large events you must apply for a permit 12 in advance. Smaller events must be notified 3 in advance.
When a permit is required:
- there are 200 or more attendees at the busiest time and alcohol is served.
- there are 1,000 or more attendees at the busiest time and no alcohol is served.
- the total surface area of the temporary structures, such as a tent or a podium, is 200m2 or more.
- the event will take place in the Juliana Park or on the Market in Venlo.
- the event will last longer than 2 days.
- the event makes it necessary to close a main road.

The amount that you have to pay depends on the type of event that you are organising and the number of visitors you expect.
