If you wish to organise an event, you must notify the municipality and, in some cases, apply for a permit.

For many small events, you do not need a permit. In such cases, you can provide notification of the event free of charge.

For large events  you must apply for a permit 12 in advance. Smaller events must be notified 3 in advance.

When a permit is required:

  • there are 200 or more attendees at the busiest time and alcohol is served.
  • there are 1,000 or more attendees at the busiest time and no alcohol is served.
  • the total surface area of the temporary structures, such as a tent or a podium, is 200m2 or more.
  • the event will take place in the Juliana Park or on the Market in Venlo.
  • the event will last longer than 2 days.
  • the event makes it necessary to close a main road.

Notifying the event

Contact the municipality to notify your event.

The amount that you have to pay depends on the type of event that you are organising and the number of visitors you expect.
