A permit is often required for an event. Events are activities that the public can attend. They come in many shapes and sizes. Other examples and exceptions can be found in the APV. For one event a notification alone is enough and for another event a permit may be required.

In addition to the APV, the Zaanstad Event Permit Policy Rules also apply.

An event permit is required to prevent nuisance as much as possible and to be able to guarantee safety, even if the event takes place on your own property. In some cases you can apply for a subsidy for an event. In addition, an overview has been made of important points of attention regarding the organization of an event.

Event listIf you plan to organize an event, the municipality (in connection with the planning) would like to know in time. That is why you can already reserve your event on the event list. If you have applied for/are going to submit an event permit application, then a reservation is not necessary. However, you cannot derive any rights from this, a request is for a reservation. You are responsible for applying for an event permit on time and in full within the periods stated below.

Notification or permitIf you are going to organize an event, it may be enough to report a small event if the event meets the conditions. You must submit the report no later than ten working days before the date of the event. If the event does not meet the conditions, you will need an event permit. You can request both the event permit and the notification of a small event using the same form.

If you are going to organize an event, please submit the following documents with the application. This applies to category A, B and C events.

If the event falls under category B or C, you must also submit the following documents (in addition to the above-mentioned documents):

If applicable, also provide the following documents:

  • certificates of (fair) attractions
  • to be placed construction drawings of the objects to be placed (e.g. podium, grandstand)
  • Traffic diversion drawing if you want to close a through road
  • details of the tent(s) to be placed and the associated certificates
  • acoustic research

Additional documents may be required in response to your application. In that case you will be contacted.

When submitting an application for an event permit / notification of a small event, you should take the following terms into account:

  • at least ten working days in advance of the small event date
  • at least eight weeks in advance for an A-event
  • at least fourteen weeks in advance for a B/C event

Before submitting the application, it is advisable to read the information and the appendix in its entirety.

A small event notification is free of charge.

These costs are for processing the application for your permit. You must always pay these costs if the permit is granted, but also if the permit is refused. The Ports and Waterways department may charge costs. For more information, please contact them by calling 14 075.

You will be notified within 8 to 10 weeks. The municipality may extend this notice period once.
