Do you intend to develop solutions for the use of sustainable fuels in shipping or for the storage of CO2 emissions on board? And do you want to demonstrate your innovative solution by building a new ship or converting an existing ship (retrofit)? You may be eligible for the Temporary Subsidy Scheme under the Maritime Master Plan 2026 (Tijdelijke subsidieregeling Maritiem Masterplan 2026).

What are the conditions for Maritime Master Plan 2026?

You can apply for the subsidy scheme Maritime Master Plan if you meet the conditions (in Dutch), among others:

  • You work together with at least 1 other company.
  • As the lead in the partnership, your company is established in the Netherlands.
  • Your project is a research & demonstration project.
  • Your project covers 1 of the following fuel technology lines: hydrogen, methanol, ammonia, bioethanol, or carbon capture systems on an LNG or methanol fuelled ship.
  • You have not started the project before application.

How to apply?

You can apply for the subsidy scheme Maritime Master Plan 2026 to the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland, RVO, in Dutch) from 19 May 2026, 9:00 hours until 3 November 2026, 17:00 hours. You need eHerkenning level 3 to apply.

You will need to supply several documents with your application, for example a project plan and a substantiated budget in the required format (in Dutch).
