Do you have a car park, charging plaza or other location where heavy electric vehicles can charge? You may be able to use the Public Charging Infrastructure Heavy Transport Subsidy Scheme (SPULA).

The SPULA subsidy scheme is aimed at entrepreneurs investing in charging stations for heavy vehicles, for example, charging station operators (Charge Point Operators, CPOs) or petrol stations. The SPULA subsidy allows you to build or expand a network of charging stations (charging infrastructure) for heavy electric vehicles at your location. However, your location must always be publicly accessible. The charging infrastructure must be suitable for heavy electric vehicles, such as trucks.

Do you want to build a charging infrastructure for your own company? Then you can apply for the SPRILA subsidy.

When are you eligible for SPULA?

To apply for the SPULA subsidy, you must meet several conditions:

  • You are an entrepreneur, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KVK).
  • You are established in the Netherlands.
  • The requested subsidy amount is at least €25,000.
  • The charging infrastructure is suitable for electric vehicles of category M3, N2 or N3
  • All charge points are available for use within 2 years of the subsidy being granted
  • You use only renewable electricity for the charging stations.
  • The prices you ask for charging are reasonable, well comparable, transparent, and non-discriminatory.

The charging infrastructure you intend to set up must meet several conditions (in Dutch) as well, for example:

  • A charging site has at least 1.400 kW of charging stations with a capacity of 200 kW or more.
  • At least 2 charging stations have a capacity of 350kW.
  • The charging location must have a minimum grid connection of 600 kVA.
  • The physical charging spaces, foundations, and clearance heights must be suitable for large vehicles.

How to apply?

You can apply for the SPULA subsidy (in Dutch) from 1 October 2024, 9:00 hours until 31 December 2024, 12:00 hours to the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO).

You will need to supply several documents with your application, for example, proof that you have permission to use the intended location and documents showing that the set-up of the intended charging site meets the conditions. Check which documents you need to apply for SPULA (in Dutch).
