Solar panels VAT-exempt in 2023

Do you sell and install solar panels on homes? From 1 January 2023, you will no longer have to charge VAT.

What changes?

Do you sell and install solar panels on homes and other adjoining buildings, such as a shed? From 1 January 2023, you will no longer have to charge 21% VAT to your customers. The VAT for the supply and installation of solar panels will go down to 0%.

For whom?

  • entrepreneurs who sell and install solar panels

When?

The change in law is expected to enter into effect on 1 January 2023.

Please note: The effective date of this measure is not yet final. Entry into force is subject to its passing through the Upper and Lower Houses (Eerste en Tweede Kamer) of parliament or proclamation of the Order in Council (Algemene Maatregel van Bestuur, AMvB) or ministerial decree and publication in the Staatsblad or Staatscourant (Government Gazette, in Dutch).
