Subsidy or grant
Please note: temporarily closed

Does your business contribute to reducing harmful emissions in the aviation sector? And are you doing so with a project aimed at developing technological solutions, innovative concepts and/or new insights within the aviation industry? You may be eligible for the Temporary Subsidy Scheme for Aviation in Transition (Tijdelijke subsidieregeling Luchtvaart in Transitie, LIT).

The Aviation in Transition scheme consists of 5 modules:

  • Knowledge and Test Vouchers: for SME’s that have a ‘knowledge question’ concerning innovation, production processes, or services in aviation, or that want to test their technology or innovation (in Dutch).
  • Feasibility Project: for SME’s wanting to carry out a feasibility study on the technical and economic risks of their innovation project (in Dutch).
  • R&D Collaboration Project: for SME’s wanting to develop or innovate products, production processes, or services in the aviation sector in collaboration with other SMEs (in Dutch).
  • Venture Booster Knowledge Vouchers: for startups that have a ‘knowledge question’ concerning funding and product market fit of their innovation (in Dutch).
  • Module Supporting Research: for knowledge institutions and businesses wanting to cooperate with a knowledge institution on research projects concerning smart structural components and hydrogen-powered flights (in Dutch).

What are the conditions?

Conditions for Knowledge and Test Vouchers, Feasibility Project, and R&D Collaboration Project

As an SME, you can apply for a knowledge or test voucher, or for a subsidy for a feasibility project or an R&D collaboration project. Knowledge questions, tests, and projects should address:

  • new design concepts and design materials
  • ultra-efficient structural components
  • cost-effective manufacturing technologies for new aircraft configurations after 2030

You must also meet the specific conditions for the module for which you apply:

Conditions for Venture Booster Knowledge Vouchers

As a start-up, you can apply for a Venture Booster knowledge voucher if you meet the conditions (in Dutch). Your question must relate to:

  • Investor Readiness: seeking external funding
  • IP advice: protecting intellectual property rights
  • Market validation: investigating whether there is sufficient demand for your product
  • Founder coaching: strengthening entrepreneurial skills and leadership qualities

Conditions for the Supporting Research Module

Only knowledge institutions can apply for a subsidy for supporting research in the aviation field. If you want to cooperate with a knowledge institute on research projects concerning smart structural components and hydrogen-powered flights, read more on the Module Supporting Research (in Dutch).

How to apply

You can apply for an Aviation in Transition voucher or subsidy to the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO). The modules of LIT have different application periods.
