Reduction of excise duty on petrol in the Caribbean Netherlands extended

What changes?

To help businesses and private individuals with the sharp rise in fuel prices, the temporary reduction of the vehicle excise duty on petrol on Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba will be extended until 30 June 2023.

The excise duty on a litre of petrol on Bonaire costs $0.16 USD, and on Sint Eustatius and on Saba $0.08 USD.

For whom?

  • Entrepreneurs and private individuals on Bonaire, St. Eustatius, and Saba.

When?

The change in law is expected to enter into effect on 1 January 2023.

Please note: The effective date of this measure is not yet final. Entry into force is subject to its passing through the Upper and Lower Houses (Eerste en Tweede Kamer) of parliament or proclamation of the Order in Council (Algemene Maatregel van Bestuur, AMvB) or ministerial decree and publication in the Staatsblad or Staatscourant (Government Gazette, in Dutch).
